the challenge

Design an attractive packaging system with an intent to give back to an impoverished community in need.

The approach

The Kirati people are indigenous to the Himalayan mountains extending from Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma and beyond. Drawing on their ceremonial outfits and colors, I created packaging for socks that were handmade in the Himalayans by Tibetan Socks. The typography was created by hand on the front and back. The flourishes on the typography were foiled to allude to their exquisite jewelry. A portion of every sale would go to help impoverished communities in Nepal.
